On the Ramp: Real Stories from Mercury GSE — Restoring Critical Cooling in Record Time

We’re continuing our series of real stories from the field—showing how the Mercury GSE team steps in to keep ramp operations moving, especially when demand is high and time is short. In the middle of the summer heat, two key Oshkosh AeroTech, LLC Commander 30 loaders at San Antonio International Airport (SAT), along with TLD air conditioning units (ACUs) and ground power units (GPUs) at Kelly Field Airport (SKF)—both supporting top Mercury GSE accounts—needed urgent servicing. These systems are essential for cooling aircraft cabins, powering onboard systems, and ensuring crews can work safely.

Adam Spencer, Fleet Support Manager from Mercury GSE, quickly rerouted to the sites, restoring three ACUs and one GPU before the weekend rush. For the remaining units, he coordinated immediate parts procurement so servicing could be completed without delay.

The next day, he provided remote troubleshooting to bring another ACU back online—supporting time-sensitive aircraft maintenance and keeping operations running.

It’s this combination of rapid response, technical expertise, and follow-through that makes the difference during peak season. Because at Mercury GSE, GSE never sleeps.

Unlike some others in the industry, our commitment doesn’t end when we deliver the unit. The Mercury GSE Advantage means 24/7 breakdown support, preventative maintenance, factory-trained technicians, rapid-response service, a dedicated parts team, and nationwide transportation—keeping our customers’ ramps ready year-round.

The mission included one aircraft departing Florida and two flights lifting off from Van Nuys headed to the Chicago area, New York, and Delaware.
