Friday night, Mercury GSE demonstrated our commitment to providing top-tier, round-the-clock support to the aviation industry nationwide. Here's a snapshot of how our dedicated team turned a critical breakdown into a delivered solution within 16 hours:
Friday Night: 8:15 PM: Andrea Morales, Mercury GSE Director of Business Development, received an urgent call from PrimeFlight Aviation Services, that their existing 100,000-lbs aircraft tractor at Ontario International Airport (ONT) was inoperable with engine failure and that they were awaiting an inbound international Boeing 777 flight that was landing in 24 hours.
Our team activated the critical outage plan:
• Adam Spencer, Mercury GSE Fleet Support Manager, identified the closest available asset at Mercury’s Victorville, CA (VCV) airport facility.
• Garrett Gendron, Mercury GSE Transportation Coordinator, secured transportation options.
• Steven Park, Mercury GSE Technician, scheduled the VCV team for an early morning start via text, while flying back from a scheduled training session at Oshkosh Aerotech’s Orlando factory.
Late Night: 11:00 PM: PrimeFlight Aviation Services approved the plan and signed the rental documents while the Mercury VCV technicians including Steven and Cody Luna were scheduled for a 6 AM start the following morning. Red Family Transportation dispatched two trucks to Mercury's facility at the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LOGISTICS AIRPORT (VCV airport). Time for some rest before the early start!
Saturday Morning:
6:00 AM: Steven and Cody inspected and QC'd the Oshkosh AeroTech, LLC B950 for delivery, removing 25,000lbs of ballast to meet heavy haul transportation permit restrictions.
8:00 AM: Red Family Transportation arrived onsite to load the B950 aircraft tractor and ballast weights.
10:00 AM: Equipment departed Mercury’s VCV airport facility to (ONT) Airport.
Saturday Noon:
11:45 PM: Trucks arrived at our customer’s ONT facility.
1:00 PM: Equipment unloaded and ready for service before the evening flight arrival.
A huge thank you to our valued partner PrimeFlight Aviation Services and their team (Wayne Ingle, Brad Osborn & Tom Kor) for trusting Mercury GSE as their partner for GSE solutions.
