HISTORY

Since 1988 Mercury GSE has specialized in the sale, lease or rent of aircraft ground support equipment all over the world. We were founded in 1948 by former Flying Tigers personnel to refuel and service aircraft at LAX. From 1960 to 1988 Mercury was the largest refueler and ground handling company on the West Coast of the United States. For many years Mercury was the ground handler at LAX for British Airways, Qantas, Air France, UTA, Lufthansa, World Airways and others. Our clients have included Aero Charter, Aero Union, Air France, America West, American Airlines, Boeing, British Airways, Delta Airlines, DHL Airways, Federal Express, General Electric, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Menzies, Northwest Airlines, Qantas, Swissair, United Airlines, UPS and the U.S. Military.

COMPANY STRUCTURE

The president of Mercury GSE, Ron Spiegel, has been closely involved in all facets of the ground support equipment and ground handling industry for more than 25 years. Mercury’s extensive knowledge of competitive equipment, in addition to the present/future values of this equipment, forms part of our invaluable worldwide database.

LEASE AND RENTAL DIVISION

This division, which is based close to LAX, CA, handles the lease and rental of ground support equipment to the aviation industry all over the world. Our large inventory of in-stock equipment available for lease or rent allows us to offer start-up operations and ground handlers the right equipment for any aircraft at very affordable rates.

SALES DIVISION

As part of our worldwide distribution service, we handle parts from American’s finest ground support equipment manufacturers, including Stewart & Stevenson Tug, Trilectron, Taylor-Dunn, TLD, JBT Aerotech(FMC), Wasp and Wollard. We specialize in larger items such as loaders, aircraft tow tractors and air starters. We continuously maintain an inventory of approximately 250 pieces of “like new” equipment that can be delivered to clients on short notice.

INDUSTRY SUPPORT

Appraisals and valuations

Our knowledge of the ground support equipment industry provides the most accurate values to be determined for appraisals and valuations for airlines, banks and various financial institutions. Our technicians thoroughly inspect and test each piece of equipment to determine its condition and value. Our appraisals include all of the documentation required by the client including the manufacturer, model, age, serial number, and appropriate photographs.

Zero timing/Equipment Refurbishing

We refurbish equipment to “like new” condition, often stripping units down to the frame and re-assembling them. The process can often double the machine’s service life. We rebuild all makes of equipment and are currently reconditioning a fleet of towbarless tractors. New air quality requirements in the US will necessitate upgrading our gas and diesel fleet to Tier-II and III, a service we offer to all our customers.

Commissioning equipment and operative training

Our senior technicians are available to commission equipment and train operators at your location.
